Causes and Trends For Obesity

The complex causes of obesity are managed by endoscopic, incisionless procedural therapies such as stomach balloons and stomach sleeve remodeling procedures performed by Dr. Anthony Starpoli of the American Obesity Center.

Obesity is a composite health issue that outcomes from a combination of bases and causal factors such as behavior and genetics. The behaviors comprise physical activity, nutritional patterns,  medication use and other experiences. Other causative factors include diet and lack of physical activities. Obesity results when somebody frequently takes in extra calories than required or that are used. The body accumulates these extra calories as body fat, and with time, more pounds add up. The treatment devices for obesity includes Intragastric Balloon System such as Obalon Balloon System (1) or endoscopic approaches whereby an incisionless, endoscopic sleeve is created without invasive surgery. Incisionless, endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty benefits people  by altering how their stomach to a smaller size.  These effective treatment options can result in the reduction of numerous obesity-related co-morbidities, as well as providing persistent weight loss and improved quality of life.

Causes of Obesity

Complex Central Nervous System-Brain Interactions – The hypothalamus and surrounding structures in the brain regulate hunger and energy expenditures.

Poor eating habits – Everybody knows that unhealthy eating habits affect the weight. Eat too much, failure to eat a balanced diet and unhealthy snacks cause obesity. Big mealtimes high in refined grains, red meat, unhealthy fats, and sugar drinks-plays one of the major roles in obesity.

Genetics – Genetics is one of the critical constituents of obesity. The study indicates that genetics plays a role in obesity. Genetic material can directly cause fatness in such conditions as Prader-Willi syndrome (2).

Environmental Factors – It can be tough for children and parents to make healthy food picks and get sufficient physical activity when they are exposed to surroundings which do not support healthy habits (3).

Trends In Obesity

Obesity is a problem not just in the U.S. but globally. In the U.S. the rates of obesity have increased for all age groups over the previous thirty years (4). The occurrence of obesity stayed at 39.8% and affected around 93.3 million U.S. adults during 2015-2016 (5). The conditions related to obesity comprise Type 2 diabetes, stroke, cancer, heart-related diseases and some of the leading causes of inevitable death. The global spread of obesity and subsequent increase in rates of long-lasting disease and other serious disorders impends health systems, economies, and individual lives (6). The bariatric procedural options offered by Dr. Anthony A. Starpoli known as endobariatrics (incisionless, endoscopic approaches) are geared toward handling the physical mechanics of obesity and focus on improving each patient’s health and well-being.
